“When I can’t see You, I know You’re here; When I can’t feel You, I will not fear; I will trust in You, and I will not be afraid.” These lyrics remind me of a truth I’m currently entertaining: God is working behind the scenes even though I can’t see it.
I recently finished a book on Esther that brought some insights into the scriptural story. The Persian King had seven noble advisors; and then, literally out of nowhere, comes a guy named Haman who wants to destroy the entire Jewish race.
God sees tomorrow and acts today. Long before Haman entered the picture, He saw Satan’s attempt to keep Jesus from being born. So what does He do? Nine years earlier He uses a drunken king to depose a queen, who four years later elevates a young Jewish girl to replace her, whom God used to defeat Israel’s adversary.
We can’t always see or understand what God is doing, but rest in this truth: No matter what’s currently happening in your life or world, God is working “all things together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” He’s always on the job, even when you’re not.

After fighting against and running from God for years, I finally realized that through it all He never stopped pursuing me, never gave up on me. Through those dark years, I had learned to trust Him, because I had experienced His faithfulness — even when I was faithless! Since then, I have learned that Father God is 100% in control of all things, that He is unfailingly good, and that He knows exactly what He is doing all the time. If I rest in these truths, I know a peace that cannot be assailed, fathomed, or explained!
